Cats are very clean animals. This, however, doesn't mean that they can do without human help.
Your cat will need some assistance in order to enjoy fairly good health and preserve his natural beauty for years to come. Since many cat conditions are related to poor hygiene or general lack of care, you will want to provide your cat with the best grooming possible. Brush Your Cat Every DayCats, particularly Persians, easily develop various cat's skin and coat conditions. That’s why their fur needs to be taken very good care of on a daily basis. In order to brush your cat, you’ll need two kinds of brushes: a wide-teeth type and a metallic one. The former will help you dissolve and, partially, remove tightly knotted hairballs without causing any pain or discomfort to your cat. The latter, used subsequently, will remove an excess of loose puffy hair. Once brushing is over, make sure to polish your cat’s fur all over his body with the help of a clean cotton, or woolen, cloth. Don’t brush your cat for too long. If he gets bored with brushing, he may start playing with the wipe, run away, or even bite you. In the course of time, you won’t be able to convince him to stay motionless for even several minutes and you will have a very hard time trying to brush his fur. Overall, brushing shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes a day. Don’t Neglect Brushing Your CatIf you neglect brushing, your cat’s fur will be getting knotted constantly. Skin infections and lice might occur as a result. More tightly knotted bundles of hair can be cut off with small scissors but this can, again, expose your cat’s skin to irritation. Bathe Your Cat Once a MonthCats sweat easily, and are not able to wash themselves properly. You should use only special cat shampoos and can consult your vet about the proper brand. Cats can be allergic to different artificial products; that’s why you must check your choice with a veterinarian. First, wet your cat’s body avoiding watering his face – particularly, his ears and eyes. Once his fur is all wet, you start washing it with a special shampoo. The water shouldn’t be too hot, or too cold. Then, you should delicately wipe your cat with a soft towel and take him into a warm room. He should start licking his fur to make it dry. Lack of regular care can not only damage general health condition of your cat, but also contribute to the development of cat’s depression. Grooming conjoined with proper cat’s diet will make your cat’s fur shiny and healthy.
