Whether it is the owner's choice or the cat's to be indoors, there are a few things they will need them happy.
Cats can be just as happy being indoors rather than out, but either way they will need their daily exercise, a proper diet and of course, lots of love and care. Cat Proofing Your HomeCat proofing may sound like you will be baby proofing your home, but it is a far less daunting task. What Cats NeedIndoor cats need plenty of exercise space to run about, especially if there are other animals in the home that might chase them about. They will also require things to climb like cupboards and scratching posts and lots of company whether it may be from another animal or the owner. Although many believe that cats sleep all day, they too like dogs cannot resist a good play. Indoor cats should have plenty of toys to keep them occupied, particularly ones that make noises, are light to hold and easy for them to toss around. And almost every cat in the world is a sucker for a game of hide and seek . The play sessions are important as they keep the animal fit and strengthen their cardio vascular system. Cat scratches are also considered a must have for them as this provides an alternative (especially to your furniture) for them to sharpen and dig there claws into. When it comes to their diet, there is always a house cat food option in the supermarkets but there is also nothing wrong with feeding them normal cat food as long as they get their daily exercise around the house. The trick is to only feed them when they’re hungry so that they don’t get too fat and lazy. And just like any human, a cat also needs it’s own space so there should always be a room where they can go off on their own for some peace and quiet. Kitty HygieneAs housecats don’t get the option to do their business outside of the house, always ensure that your cats thrown (a.k.a. litter box) is always clean and that litter freshener is always handy to keep the rest of the home smelling fresh too. A cats food should also not be placed too close to his litter to prevent any germs getting onto his food. Litter Box TipA handy tip to keep cat’s litter in their box is to simply cut up an unused cardboard box and place the litter box inside. The cat can simply hop in and out without it spilling any litter all over the floor. Danger in the HomeAny unhealthy or left over food, especially things like chicken bones should be kept out of paws reach as they can be life threatening and unhealthy for cats. Bins inside the home should also be secured. Other harms cats could run into in the home include plastic bags, high windows left open, hot irons and stoves, electrical wires and much more. Although they might sound like high maintenance cats are known for their independent natures. They make wonderful companions and it goes without saying that above all they require plenty of love and care from their owners and lots of pampering of course!
